The Age of Exploration:Would you go?

The 15th and 16th century were a time of exploration and discovery for European nations. Taking advantage of new maritime knowledge and inventions, European powers undertook sea expeditions to expand their trade and influence.

  • What possible rewards might come from exploring the seas for new lands?
  • Some possible rewards might be new natural resources, and new ideas, from other countries. They can trade easily, and buy the product in cheap, and affordable prices. Such as, spices, gold, silver, salt, and other expansive resources. New ideas, and concept of knowledge might help the countries. Such as, new farming methods, or new ways to make metal, or new ideas that wasn't used before. These actions can help the economy, by making work more efficient, and cheap.
  • What are the risks involved in embarking on a voyage into the unknown?
  • Some of the risks involved in embarking on a voyage into the unknown is that it is unknown. Therefore, we don't know what is in that region, like if there is wild animals, or native people in that place. There also might be diseases that we are not prepared for, and diseases that we do not know. Theses are the risks of voyage into the unknown.
  • What will you do if you actually run into other people?
  • When I run into other people, I would try to make peace, and learn there culture. Also, trade, and trade ideas. However, when they are violent, I will protect myself.

  • Compass - a machine that shows the North, and the South. The way to look is that u put the compass on your palm. You point at the direction you are headed, and it shows the North, and the South on the compass.
